Chile Favored versus Honduras By World Cup Gambling
This past Wednesday in a match that was aired on ESPN, Chile was expected to defeat Honduras in World Cup soccer betting.
Chile plays in a group that contains Spain but they have the capacity to move forward from Group H since they’re capable of beating Honduras and Switzerland in World Cup odds at the sportsbooks.
World Cup gambling probabilities showed Chile as a one-goal favorite on Wednesday vs Honduras with a total of 2.5 under. The three-way line has Chile at -170, Honduras at +480 and the draw at +260. This’ll be the eighth World Cup appearance for Chile. Marcelo Bielsa, the team’s coach, has led the squad to their first World Cup in 12 years. He’ll have his team all set and ready to strike from the second the game starts. Humberto Suazo, who had 10 goals in 18 matches, was Chile’s leading scorer in qualifying. Matias Fernandez and Alexis Sanchez are a few other talented players on the team. Chile is going below the radar with a lot of people but they’ve got some ability and might even give Spain a run for the top spot in Group H.
Honduras is making only their 2nd showing in the World Cup and it figures to be a short 1. They don’t compare well with Chile or Spain so their only hope of receiving a point looks to be the competition with Switzerland. It seems improbable they can match the scoring strength of Chile or Spain. Honduras will require David Suazo to play pretty well for them to have any opportunity. The leading scorer in qualifying was Carlos Pavon as he had 7 goals. Honduras is nicely coached by Reinaldo Rueda but it doesn’t seem like they have the expertise to contend with either Spain or Chile. Suazo and Pavon are excellent participants and Wilson Palacios is a sound midfielder and Georgie Welcome can score the irregular goal but overall, Honduras just does not have the depth of several other squads in the World Cup.
Chile shouldn’t have had excessive difficulty winning this game in World Cup probabilities as long as they don’t disregard Honduras. That shouldn’t have been a problem since this is their 1st match in Group H.
Chile’s Jean Beausejour obtained the team’s only goal when they beat Honduras 1-0 in Wednesday’s match. It was the 1st World Cup win for Chile since they hosted the tournament in 1962. The winning goal came in the 34th minute of the match.
Despite their win, Chile’s coach Marcelo Bielsa was unfulfilled. He strongly felt that the team might have made more goals against Honduras. In fact, more than once during the competition the squad came close to doubling its lead with another goal. Nevertheless Honduras, to their credit, had a fairly extraordinary goalie in Noel Valladares who made more than one remarkable save. However Honduras’ only genuine possibility came from a free kick in first-half injury time by midfielder Ramon Nunez. Chile goaltender Claudio Bravo tipped that strike over the net.
